Dit komt deels omdat ouders denken dat hun kinderen al de benodigde vaccinaties hebben gehad via het Rijksvaccinatieprogramma. Het hepatitis A vaccin maakt hier echter geen onderdeel van uit, waardoor veel kinderen risico lopen om besmet te raken met deze infectieziekte.
